A Letter to Our Friends
Dear Friends and Future Clients:
Creating special moments for people has been my passion since I was a small child. It all started in the garage of our family home in Huntington, WV when I was about ten years old. Gathering the neighborhood children together for tea parties and skits on Saturday afternoons was my way of having fun. Our parents would dutifully sit in folding chairs and applaud our efforts giving us smiles and compliments.
Of course there was always a princess involved and beautiful clothes (our mothers) and lots of flowers (from the back yard). So, I suppose that having a 25 year career in development and award winning event planning was a natural progression for me.
After retirement from the corporate world in the summer of 2009, I was eager to keep on planning the type of events that had proven to be the backbone of my successful career in development. With the help and support of my wonderful husband, Pete Smentkowski, I began a new phase of my life
(you're never too old they say).
My lifelong love of clothes, flowers and beautiful surroundings served me well in the creation of the theme parties, galas, and intimate events that I found so exciting to plan for politicians, celebrities and corporations.
Over the years many guest would say “we could tell this party was designed by you—your signature is on every detail.” Thus Signature Events became the name of our new business venture.
Now, a new adventure begins as we are putting Pete's love of cooking and my love of party planning together to make a company that specializes in boutique events, weddings, and special events. We believe that all our clients deserve to have special memories in their lives and we are here to make those dreams come true.

Woods & Lace Lodge is a 2 bedroom lodge nestled in a small cabin village at Cave Run Lake in Kentucky.
Our new open-air Wedding Chapel is perfect for small intimate weddings. Wedding packages are available year round.
We are available for special occasion rentals such as birthdays, anniversaries, girls weekends, or your idea of a special event.

Summertime, Summertime...baseball, picnics and vacations! Yes, the lazy days of summer are finally here. The staff and friends of Signature Events have had a busy spring and summer thus far. Fresh fruits and vegetables of the season make our job easy and so tasteful. Thanks to our friend, Josette, our herb garden is doing well and adds just the right flavors to our recipes. California strawberries have been so sweet this year. We use them at almost every special party.
